Over 9 Million .org Domains Registered

The 01 March 2011 HosterStats.com domain count for .org registrations is 9,000,3560. The .org TLD has now broken the nine million registered domains mark. This is a significant milestone for .org and its growth has been almost under the radar. Most of the attention seems to be focused on the .com TLD and the ccTLDs but .org has been quietly growing. Originally intended for non-profit organisations, the .org TLD has been overshadowed by the larger .com and .net TLDs but it is slightly more recognisable than .net as a brand. The .net has been traditionally associated with internet operations and registrants who may have arrived too late in the market to register the .com version of their brand.
